Bryan/Harris HP-18-LK-G Sailplane – N96326
Designated a Harris HP-18 sailplane, N96326, s/n 56, this graceful single-seat machine is a high performance 15 meter sailplane. Originally constructed from a kit designed by Dick Schreder, the HP-18 was built by the late Charles W. Harris and his wife, Bette, of Fort Wayne, IN. With this aircraft and its specially built trailer, Mr. And Mrs. Harris traveled to many sailplane competitions around the country.
This aircraft was designed by Dick Schreder as one of his well-known “HP” series of high-performance sailplanes. The HP-18 was originally sold as a kit from Bryan Aircraft. Special attention has been given to simplified assembly, rugged construction, best possible pilot protection, comfort, good performance and light weight. Water ballast is carried inside the wing box spars. Cross-country efficiency is improved by the use of a low profile fuselage, new wing tips and better streamlining. The aircraft is of foam and metal construction.
