1956 Bell 47G-2 N2490B

The Bell 47G-2 was more than the first successful civilian helicopter - it helped create the market for civilian helicopters. The huge cockpit bubble is the most distinctive part of its classic combination of design, function, and versatility. Bell 47s have performed a wide variety of tasks including aerial survey and photography, mail delivery, fire fighting, and agricultural spraying in addition to their well-known Korean War career as aerial ambulances. The Bell 47 is recognized wherever it goes as “the M*A*S*H helicopter!” Produced from1946 to 1973 in twenty versions, 6,263 Bell 47s were built. 167 model 47G-2s still exist.
